Tamworth Rugby Union Sporting Club Inc
Tamworth Rugby Park is located on the corner of Marius St and Macquarie St. With a new clubhouse being erected in 2008.
The ground is located close to the centre of town, and is within easy walking distance of most Festival activities. The Club welcomes visitors to a friendly atmosphere for the Festival.
We have had the Camping License for over 25 years, but it only allows camping at Festival time. As most of the power sites are on the well-grassed playing field, campers are requested to respect this fact and co-operate in caring for the ground during their stay. Power (15A with individual overload protection) and town water taps are provided within at most 20m of all sites, a dump point is available for black water and waste, and grey water can be dispersed under the vans or otherwise emptied into the dump point.
The modern clubhouse is open all the time with friendly club members on hand to book campers in and show them their sites, etc. The clubhouse contains plenty of male and female toilets and hot showers, plus air-conditioned seating with TV available for relaxing as Tamworth is usually hot during January. The licensed bar is opened whenever we have licensed volunteers available to run it - otherwise soft drinks, chips, etc. and ice are available for purchase, and other services on request. Camping musicians often voluntarily entertain campers looking for a break from the action downtown! An older clubhouse building provides extra toilets and showers for the menfolk.
The Tamworth Rugby Club usually holds a ‘Meet and Greet’ evening on the first Saturday of the Festival (5pm to 7pm) in the Clubhouse to give all Club members (Camping fees include Membership for the duration of the stay) a chance to mingle and meet. Club merchandise is available for purchase in the Clubhouse, often with good bargains on left-over training shirts, stubby holders, hats etc.
